MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
Vinyl has five (5) times the tensile strength of wood with four (4) times the flexibility. Vinyl fencing was originally manufactured for use as livestock containment in the early 1980's. Every fence and deck profile is engineered to maximize the strength and flexibility factors of a quality building product. Additional stability can be gained with the use of either steel or aluminum inserts. Vinyl profiles weigh approximately 1.1 lbs per linear foot. This is much lighter than the weight of like sizes of typical wood or wood-composites being used in the building industry today. The main reason building products deteriorate and rot is exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. Our vinyl profiles contain 10% of the UV inhibitor Titanium Dioxide (Tio2). This additive works like a sunscreen to protect the vinyl from yellowing and breaking down. Our vinyl manufacturer's formula of TiO2 exceeds the industry standards to guarantee you a Lifetime Fence, railing, or deck. Vinyl is a maintenance-free product. But if cleaning is necessary, it can be done with water, a brush with detergent, or even a mild bleach solution. Cleaning products should always be tested on a hidden section of your fence before using on exposed areas. Strong chemicals may not hurt the vinyl, but it may be harmful to the environment. Chemicals are generally not necessary to clean our vinyl material. Vinyl is very smooth and non-porous. Only under the wettest conditions will mildew grow on Vinyl. If mildew does appear, it can be easily removed with water and/or a mild bleach solution. Vinyl is a maintenance-free product that always looks like new. Your fence will always look freshly painted, so there is no reason to paint it except to change color. We do not recommend painting any vinyl product. Epoxy-based paint is the only paint that will adhere properly to the smooth vinyl surface. However, this type of paint damages the vinyl's surface and will void the manufacturer's lifetime warranty on the product. Most vinyl products meet or exceed local, state, and national building and safety codes. Because building codes vary in different parts of the country, we suggest you contact your local building department or community association for information in your area. Vinyls smooth surface eliminates injury from splinters, and its routed attachment and assembly method requires no exposed nails or unsightly metal brackets to cause injury. Vinyl has a "flame spread factor" of 15 and a high flash point of 900°F. This means it does not readily ignite and will not carry a flame when the heat source is removed or extinguished. Our manufacturer's vinyl is formulated from 100% pure polyvinyl chloride resin, UV inhibitors, and acrylic impact modifiers what allow for superior performance, stability, durability, weatherability, and overall product life. Vinyl will maintain its fresh appearance for a lifetime, your choice of fence & gate styles range from a full privacy fence to a traditional picket fence, or popular wrought iron look vinyl fence or gate. To compliment your yard, garden, or patio area, you can choose a Classic vinyl arbor, or trellis, or maintenance-free vinyl patio cover. Initially a vinyl product may cost you more than wood. However, you will never need to invest any more time or money into a vinyl product since it lasts a lifetime. Wood, on the other hand, will need to be maintained regularly whether painting, staining, or replacing pieces damaged from insects or weather damage. Vinyl always looks fresh and new. Comparison costs of wood versus vinyl vary greatly from region to region. Escalating wood costs and inconsistent grades and quality have made vinyl even more economical for busy homeowners. The added benefits of using a product that does not require dangerous chemicals to preserve or protect it from the environment can ultimately be measured by having a safer environment and cleaner non-polluted ground water system. |
